Dog Friendly Mount Freedom Cabin in Scotland

Remi’s Retreat: Our Favourite Dog-Friendly Stay in Scotland

Back in September 2022, I took Remi on what turned out to be our most peaceful and memorable dog-friendly getaway in Scotland at Mount Freedom Cabins.

At the time, I went with my partner, and although life has changed since then, this trip still holds a special place in my heart. It was one of those rare pauses where everything felt calm, quiet, and easy for both humans and hound.

We always pack a snuffle mat or enrichment toy when travelling, as scent games can help dogs settle into new environments.

A peaceful escape

Mount Freedom Cabins are beautifully secluded, with wide open views and no one else around. The privacy and tranquillity made it feel like the rest of the world had faded away. I remember thinking, this is what slowing down should feel like.

Remi especially benefited from the peaceful setting. He can be anxious in busy or unpredictable environments, but here, away from the noise and crowds, he truly relaxed. Just fresh air, space to explore and a calmness that let him be completely himself.

Built with dogs in mind

There’s so much to love about Mount Freedom, but what really stood out was how naturally dog-friendly the experience was, without compromising on comfort or design.

Remi had plenty of space to explore safely, whether sniffing around the outdoor area or trotting along the nearby walking trails. Inside, the cabin was cosy and practical, making it easy to settle in without constantly managing mess or stress.

Watching him nap in a sunspot by the door or calmly gaze out across the sea was one of those peaceful moments that stays with you.

Human comforts too

While Remi had his run of the place, we had a few luxuries of our own, including an outdoor bath, a thoughtfully designed interior and that kind of quiet you can actually feel. Even meals felt more mindful, made with fresh air in our lungs and the sound of birds instead of phones.

For a couple of days, it felt like we had the world to ourselves.

Would we go back?

In a heartbeat. This trip holds a special place in our memories, not only because of the peace and beauty of the stay, but because it gave Remi a chance to feel safe, relaxed, and totally himself.

We only had Remi with us at the time, but I’ve been dreaming of returning with the whole pack ever since.

If you’re looking for a dog-friendly cabins in Scotland, that truly respects the needs of both dogs and humans, Mount Freedom Cabins is one we wholeheartedly recommend.
